FDO: Camo Swag

Virgle Kent October 9, 2014 FDO, Style No Comments on FDO: Camo Swag

Can you fucking see me!?! What? To continue with our Outlaw /Rebel Fashion series I thought I’d switch it up and throw a curve ball. A trend that I’ve noticed designers and name brands experimenting with on the runway and fashion stores is the military camouflage pattern. A reason why it’s a great idea is because the camouflage pattern is easily associated with the military and masculinity. Of course we aren’t talking cargo pants or shorts or even jackets. We’re talking dress pants, ties, pocket squares, and even sneakers. All of these with a fitted, slim down modern fit that you can wear on a casual Friday from the office to a night out on the town.
About a year ago I was lucky to get my hands on a great pair of camouflage dress pants from Banana Republic that just made absolute sense and opened up a world of possibilities. Honestly I’ve never gotten more compliments from women on dates or even nights out. The cool thing is you can rock the pants with a rock T or dress it all the way up as I have done below. It’s basically the same exact outfit but I wanted to show how changing just one aspect can change the whole mood.  Finally I understand I could have done some post production work to make the picture brighter and show off the pants more but you get the idea. All three versions of this look can be worn to the same places. Date night, middle to fancy restaurant, lounge in the fall or outside rooftop patio.

The first version of this outfit is showing how you can dress camo pants all the way up with a tie and then throw on a Double Rider ( see here for Leather Jacket breakdown)to give it a relaxed bad boy vibe with an air of not really trying too hard. It’s a casual dressed up feel.

This version is more dressed up with a the black suit jacket. Now let’s say you have a fancy dinner with multiple couples or an upscale house party. This is a great take on the same look. To clean it up even further I’d put in a white pocket square.

Jacket: Suit Jacket united Color of Benetton: $350

Finally we have what me and my friend like to call the over the top version of the outfit. Instead of the double rider simpler leather jacket I switched up with a more expensive leather Moto Jacket.  What puts this outfit over the top is that even if you can’t tell this jacket has a lot more zippers. It kind of takes away from the pants when you see it in motion. But if you have a fuck it attitude and you don’t care about going a little over the top for the attention like I do then go for it.

Jacket: All Saints Jasper Leather Jacket: $650

Shirt:Express $69

Tie: Express $45

Pants: Banana Republic $80

Shoes: Zara $100

Lastly I thought I’d throw this version of the dressed up camo look in the opposite version. Now I found this jacket at Nordstrome (by Dockers link below) on sale for mad cheap ($75 on Sale). I know it needs to be altered to fit better but honestly I have a feeling the work done on it would cost more than the jacket.  Now if I really wanted to dress this up I’d go with a pocket square and tuxedo pants. But if I were to tone it down, I’d go with flat front khaki pants/ chinos and desert boots. The cool thing is this is one they’ll never see coming.

Jacket: Dockers (not on sale): $145

Shirt:Express $69

Tie: Express $45

Pants: Jeans: Left Field NYC Black Maria Greaser Jeans: $230

Shoes: Zara $100

Total: $589

I shouldn’t have to say this but for the love of god never wear camo pants and a camo Jacket together as an outfit… That is unless you are a member of the Robertson family.
