The Number One Show Not on TV
I swear to God, if I could do it all over again I’d probably get into politics. Most people assume I’m a bleeding heart Liberal, but I was dead serious when I stated if the GOP gave me enough money I’d show them what they needed to do to win. I’d” sell the fuck out” in a heartbeat. A political Ronin ready to serve the master with the biggest purse. Before PUA and people discovering “Game” Politics is the oldest game in history, from cave tribes to ancient lost civilizations and even in nature. Politics is the ultimate Game because you’re playing with people’s lives and if that doesn’t get you fucking pussy what the hell will?
Thank the heavens Netflix has brought to us House of Cards. Anyone who’s stepped one foot in DC and sees this show will instantly know it’s “about that life”.
Kevin Spacey plays Francis Underwood the Democratic Majority Whip who helped the current President elect make it to the White House in exchange for the promise to be Secretary of State. But once the election is over he’s told by the Chief of Staff no less that the President elect has decided to go another direction. Of course Underwood is pissed about this but instead of quitting or making any noise he politely smiles and agrees to fall back and be a team player. What happens the rest of the show is Underwood becoming the ultimate puppet master and pulling all the strings behind the scene to undermine the administration from within. Blackmailing members of congress for leverage, leaking secret memos and inside information to a reporter in his pocket, defending his turf in his home district, setting up fellow members as pawns. All while with a devilish grin on his face. The acting is beyond great and everyone involved in every part nails it. You get the real trade craft of what happens in the most powerful city in the world. To borrow from another show,
“Power resides in where men believe it resides, it’s a trick a shadow on the wall….”
For anyone wanting to see how real game works in real life this is a must watch show. Kevin Spacey through excellent acting shows us how real men with power wield it. Not by force, not by throwing it around and letting people know you have it and can use it to crush them. But with a smile, sometimes with humility, sometimes appearing weak or even dumb. MMA female fighter Ronda Rousey (ewww I know she has a Vagina what could she possible know about anything (wink to ROK)) once described her fighting strategy like this, (paraphrasing)
If I want to get you into an arm bar, I’m not going to attack you and go straight for the arm bar. I’m going to attack something else, force you to defend yourself and expose your arm.
This is what real Game is at the highest level, a chess game. This is how real Alphas move, the ones who’ve lasted long enough in whatever they do, the ones who’s names carry heavy weight. Always behind the scene always with a gentle hand.
But back to the show another interesting character is played by the cute Kate Mara and that’s Zoe Barnes. She works at some fake DC paper writing a political blog trying to make a name for herself and move up. She plays the typical DC chick down to a T. She gets to be Francis Underwood’s source in the paper by black mailing him with a picture of him staring at her ass outside some Orchestra. The way she got to see that that fancy event is she gets some rich beta to take her. Then at the end of the night when he asks like a beta to come up she responds like bitch by telling him, “If I was going to fuck you, you’d know” Before slamming the car door in his face. I laughed so hard screaming to myself… “I know that girl”. When we see her tiny apartment it’s really like most every DC chicks crib that I’ve gotten up and done the walk of shame to a metro from. When her boss tries to tell her she’s getting a big head she tells him he’s being sexist (he wasn’t). Finally they have an argument, he calls her a cunt, then she secretly records it and tweets it to get him fired.
She’s so DC chick it’s not even funny. But it’s a show, in real life add 20 lbs. But in Episode 4 Good old Frank Underwood shows exactly how you handle these DC birds. She’s had a couple of Long Islands and builds up the courage to give him a booty call to come by and he does, when he shows up peep the pimp game home slice throws at her to get in dem guts.
FU: Are you cared for?
Z: How do you mean?
FU: Do you have a man who cares for you? An older man
Z: No…
FU: But you’ve been with older men before?
Z: Yes…..
FU: Then you know they hurt you? And after they hurt you, they discard you.
Z: You can’t hurt me (trying to act tough)
FU: take your heals off….
What develops is a relationship between a younger girl and a much older man but DC style, a style I myself have become accustomed to. You’ve got to watch this show and to see what game looks like in real life. No spoilers int the comments you bastards!
Also shout out to Netflix, putting every episode online at the same time is a fucking game changer. I know every other outlet is saying the same thing but it’s true. Once you realize you don’t have to wait a week in anticipation viewing a great show becomes something more personal. I watch half episodes before getting ready for a date or a couple of episodes when staying in on a Friday night. But the power of scheduling is all up to me. i could easily watch the whole season in one night but then what would I have to look forward to? Now that’s a power move right there.

Dammit VK you know I shouldn’t be spending more time watching TV!!
Yes this show is all about making straight power moves. We haven’t had a good political show since the good ol days of West Wing. This show is 100x more raw than West Wing and isn’t as partisan.
Frank Underwoood plays DC politics like a game of chess, always thinking 3 moves ahead. He’s on his Sun Tzu Art of War grind.
Kate Mara is the sister of Rooney Mara….aka The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She got the part because her sister put a word in with David Fincher. He’s got that whole family on lock.
both Mara girls have been actresses for years. they’re the granddaughters of Art Rooney, Sr. – the owner of the Steelers.
I would beat, both of the Mara girls… no questions asked…. just saying
Excellent! I was just looking for a new tv show to watch so I will certainly download this. I recently finished watching Newsroom, did you catch it?
Hey Cakes, dumb question but can you guys get Netflix where you’re at. I did watch Newsroom and liked it a lot. I’m a huge Sorkin fan. But I do have to admit at times the show gets a little too preachy and I think it’s kind of cheating placing it two years back,so he’s writing with the foresight of what is to come based on actions that’s already happened. But I watch that show and I’m like damn that was really only a few years ago and it felt like yesterday. Also though Jeff Daniels is a beast, I’m glad he found something that let’s him flex his acting strength and proves he’s one of the most under appreciated actors of his generation.
Also check out the show Boss, got a feeling you’ll like that one.
