DC to NYC
Over the long Holiday weekend I took a quick trip up to NYC to visit my sister. I was very lucky to be shown around by my boy KC to some of the city’s hipper spots. Friday night we met up with KC at Mono + Mono on the LES. A Korean fried chicken joint that pushed my wig back in terms of incredible food and stylish atmosphere. The chicken was so good and flavorful when KC told me at one point he developed an addiction that was so strong he was going there twice a week I believed him. To this day I’m still thinking about the mind blowing food and Soju. Fuck what you heard, it’s what you’re hearing if you step foot in NYC GO TO THIS SPOT.
The atmosphere was tight and reminded me of being on U Street on steroids. The crowd was in fact young and hip, looking around I was surrounded by tables filled with women dinning together and starting their night out. I’m talking groups of 4 to 10 twenty something eating and catching up on their week. We left there and hit up Von Bar where upon entry I cute brunette caught my eye and broke her neck to check us out. I didn’t hesitate but walked right up to her chatted for a few minutes and number closed. She found me later on at the bar to let me know her friends were leaving but quickly made out with me before she said goodbye. We checked out one more spot at Saxon and Parole but the place was way too small to make any moves happen so we headed back to Von to get trashed in their basement.
On Saturday we spent time at house party thrown by KC before heading to a pretty slick lounge spot at the Red Rooster out in Harlem. My time in NYC was way too short but just wanted to give you a feel of the spots I hit up for a weekend (any recommendations for the next time I go). What I did want to bring up and the point of this post is NYC girls vs. DC girls.
Before you can begin the comparison you must first understand the market place between the two cities. KC and a few other girls confirmed what I saw with my own eyes that the single seen is greatly skewed in favor of the guys, something insane like 3 to 1 single girls to guys. This explained the large groups of girls I would notice while out and about. This also accounted for the neck break city where even in the day on the street girls would stare directly at me as I was walking in their direction or out at night in the bars/ clubs. The availability of single, straight, attractive guys with a job is so slim that girl will straight shank a bitch to holla. This stiff competition forces the 5’s to 8’s in NYC to dress more stylish and fashionable than their counterparts here in DC. Guys who easily make over six figures will swoop and wife up a waitress if she’s hot enough happens all the time. This leaves a great void for pretty attractive normal girls who have 9 to 5 jobs but aren’t models or entertainment industry types and don’t do PR events. My boy told me he almost went broke going on so many dates on OKC he had to fall back. He was going on 4 to 5 a week, double bookings, lunch dates whatever it was crazy. After the reaction I got while there…. I believe it.
So yeah NYC chicks are thirsty and come off desperate for available guys. Obviously that type of woman doesn’t exist in DC. First off most guys under 35 here aren’t balling like NYC balling out of control, there mostly average beta dudes named Todd that you could interchange for one another and their jobs have something to do with the Government. DC girls aren’t really worried about finding a guy because one of those Todds will still be around ready to settle down with them whenever she feels like it. Hence no need to put in any real effort in appearance or style. Also there so much less competition among attractive girls here a DC 6 is a NY 8, true story. This translates to guys having to spit top of the line game just to pull an average chick in DC.
My final thought is that my theory still holds up. DC with its inferior talent, greater bitch shield, and limited attractive single women makes it the ideal place for men to hone their skills. If you can be successful with women here then when you go to a place like NYC it will be a cake walk. NYC girls are open and ready to be gamed. I’m even less impressed by NYC PUA who have videos of themselves picking up girls. Come try that shit in my city! But in NYC they’re quick to give up that number and start getting to know you because they know if they don’t there’s two other girls waiting to step up to the plate. NYC is place I look forward to getting back to as soon as possible for the layups.
but isn’t there more competition in NYC? I feel like with all those finance (ibanking/HF/PE) + law dudes there’s plenty of guys with their shit together. was this not the case?
I did not feel like there was competition like that. I mean sure if some guy comes up and pulls out his W-2 to compare gross income or something people could get blown out the water ( I would). But again there are plenty of those guys all over the place. Now the question though is… how many of them got game?

On the other hand I wasn’t in any real high flying baller areas either, LES and Harlem not really where Ibanking/HF/PE guys are chilling at. I wasn’t too concerned about the guys though, the ladies showed me love.

Lastly I just remembered I saw some fly FLY Russian girls with some scrubs, I forget to write about that couldn’t fit it in the story

Interesting that you say DC 6 is a NYC 8, when gambino says in the song NYC 6 is a 9 anywhere else…did you mix that up? I was in DC for a year but been around NYC my whole life including right now n I would say its too close to call on looks, half point to NYC for openness.

Nah, I was talking in terms of attitude, should have made it clear but a 6 in DC acts like she’s a 9 from NY or LA.
That ratio of female to male is only higher in Manhattan. Most guys like myself live in their own place in Brooklyn or Queens. And the male ratio is higher. In Manhattan it’s very common for 3 girls to share one super expensive apartment for 3x what my place in Brooklyn is. Also, you need to take into account that female hypergamy is at an unlimited high in nyc- they all feel they deserve the absolute highest status or wealth guys if they are a 7 or above. Consider this: my ex-gf (an Asian HB7 on her best day) had dated two minor celebrities before me. One, the FDNY cover calendar model, the other, an assistant coach for the NJ Nets.
After being in NYC for almost 12 years in banking the reality is that once you start working there and gaining a bit of success (and money) you simply don’t have time to do the crazy all nighters every weekend and chase all the hotties running around. It sucks but work becomes all encompassing. You have a short shelf life and 15 hour days and working weekends becomes the norm. Time becomes > money. And I do agree with savvylurker that the really good looking 7.5-8+ types all expect to date rock stars or millionaires so there are a lot of high maintenance types and attitudes. That said, there is so much variety and different types of people coming in from all over that you usually can find something to your liking and there is no place like it in the world.
