I wanted to review a chill place to take date for some drinks as a second venue after dinner or just to meet at and have a few drinks on its own. Georgetown is a weird hybrid location being the college part of the city you have dive bars and college bars where lacrosse players wear flip flops and backwards white caps. But at the same time it’s filled with semi high fashion stores, waterfront location during the summer with yachts parked in front, expensive restaurants and so forth. Add on top of that fancy boutique hotels with amazing rooftop views. This is where The Graham Hotel comes into play. Hands down the rooftop is the prime spot in all of Georgetown.
This is how you play it. If you have a girl you’ve been seeing for a while you’ll grab some dinner at the waterfront Tony and Joe’s seafood or maybe some other fancy joint in Georgetown pick any. Afterwards the weather is still nice and she’s dressed up for Georgetown looking fine you’re fresh to death of course. Then you bounce to The Graham. The bouncer is annoying at the front and will try to intimidate you with, “And where are you heading tonight” greeting. Give him the side eye and say out of the corner of your mouth that you’re heading to the rooftop. He’ll step aside if you’re dressed appropriate (no shorts or athletic wear) and if your girl is cute. You walk inside to a special elevator that takes you straight to the top. It’s all presentation.
Once you step off keep an eye on your dates face and wait for her jaw to drop. The setup is pretty amazing. Teal seats, a deck that wraps around the top, and an amazing view of the city and especially The Kennedy Center. You know the type of shit that gets a girl feeling weak in the knees and romantic just by being there. There should be a light breeze blowing. Look around you; ladies are dressed up in dresses, old men in blazers. Cougars and the sugar daddies that love them. Because of the location, dress code and price (I’ll get to that in a minute) this is a place that isn’t exactly blowing up yet with wall to wall dudes, so if you need a location for the finishing move hit up The Graham.
Of course there’s a downside and so I saved it for last. Drinks are fucking expensive, mixed drinks starting… STARTING at $14 then they go up from there. It’s easy not to keep count and walk out of their spending a half a grip. Another thing to look out for is timing. Sometimes there’s a line to get in say 10:00pm if you don’t catch it right. Also the crowd can shift. Earlier on in the night there is a more chill crowd a little older. This is the kind of place where you grab a drink and enjoy conversation right after a meal or you go to with your wingmen just to catch up and start the night. So there’s no loud music blaring just the chatter of people mingling. With the kids coming back to school around 11:30 or 12:00 it gets a little bit crowded with students and the good vibe quickly disappears. If you’re there the whole time then you’ve got more money than me.
I’d go here to start the night with my boys but just look at pretty girls and maybe warm up with a good conversation or a meet and greet but don’t run buy drink game here, sucker move.
Anyone else been? Thoughts
