Major NLU Announcement
UPDATE: We’ve began testing an put up one paid post and of course with implementing a new system there will be some glitches at first but IT is working hard to smooth things out. Also it should be noted when you sign up for a membership, as of now there’s only one paid post. But through out the up coming months as projects are rolled out and new posts are added the library of paid posts will grow so again a little patience
To all our readers, since launching in last August the NLU staff and I have been brainstorming on how to push the site further and offer even more information to you. There’s a lot of new content we’re planning on rolling out in the upcoming months and subject matter we’d like to drill deeper on and give you more detail and insight, basically pushing ourselves to the next level. The problem arises that with offering more upscale posts means spending more time and energy for the writers. Most major group blogs sell a shit ton of advertisements and pay their writers. We are trying to avoid going that route and bogging down this site with American Apparel adds (yet). And putting up a “Donate” button doesn’t properly translate to putting up better content.
For that reason we will be implementing a pay wall for select “Paid Posts”. Once a week (starting out at first and increasing further down) one of our writers will post a paid post that will be reserved for readers with memberships. These posts will generally be more in depth or essay like with the goal of providing more insight or view of what we think on a subject. Things to come include specific workout routines with breakdown of technique and discussion, a weekly podcast, Chef in Jeans video cooking show with recipes, advanced fashion advice from Masculine style, longer real world example of game and pick up from myself and Nate. Paid post will also include that” PUA erotica” many of you like with stories of notches and bangs (if it’s a story that could potentially ruin a current relationship or employment its fair the writer should get some compensation for it). With all posts all questions asked in the comment section will be answered by the writer of the article. This brings us to the membership price
.50 gives you access to a specific paid post for 24 hours
$1.50 gives you access to all paid post for one month
$3.50 gives you access to all paid post for three months
As you can tell these prices (split four ways) aren’t meant to get any of us rich by any means over here at NLU. Instead it’s a way for us to give access to the specific readers that really enjoy our work and are looking for more quality content while giving incentive to the writers to write those posts.
Lastly again this is for access to specific posts, for now NLU will still provide plenty of free content for readers. This may mean that the free content may be shorter in length or take some more time to post as writers focus their energy on paid posts. But this will remain a place to check in on daily.
If you’d like a closer look at the options, you can check it out here.
Thanks

Where’s the signup page? This is a no-brainer.
Finalizing details with IT dude tonight, I think when you click on a paid post it will take you to the sign up page
That sounds like a good way to do it, looking forward to it
Thanks man, big picture shit
Don’t think it’s a good idea. I only come here b/c I followed most of the personal blogs that have taken residency here but there’s nothing new or valuable enough to pay for that we don’t already get elsewhere in the manosphere…for free.
I like the personalities on here and do get some enjoyment out of it but if you start saving your best stuff for paid access, I will most likely stop coming at all.
Obviously I’m not the target you’re looking for nor do you my approval but I suspect there are plenty of other readers who feel the same.
There’s nothing new or valuable to pay for because something new and valuable takes time and energy to set up. I’ll write more in a follow up comment
Please include annual option. Don’t want to mess with this every 3 months.
Great point I’ll work on adding a 6 month option, worried about an annual option yet since we haven’t even been up for a year yet. Would fee bad if someone paid for that and heaven forbid we had to shut down for some reason or another but 6 months is a good look.
Agree with asf, happy to shoot you $10 (or $14) for a year.
Hope this is still doable with rss.
Definitely need more content though, would daily be pushing it too much.
You guys might be the first blog I’ll pay for. So far its only been Bang, Day Bang, and having two style Consultatuons from Masculine Style.
Looking forward to seeing what you roll out with, then signing up for the longest subscription you have
I think you guys are making a big mistake with this freemium blog set up. Not that $3.50 isn’t worth it, the authors here have written content worth 100x over the years. However, in my opinion, the best posts of any blog need to be free for everyone. Saving the best posts for the “premium” members is just preaching to the choir. It’s the rest of the men out there that need a place where tools to turn their lives around are readily available, and that’s exactly what this blog provides.
When I first stumbled across the manosphere I was the most dyed in the wool blue pill Millennial you could ever imagine. But thanks to authors like VK, FFY, Chad Daring, Roosh, Tanner and countless others that generously posted their best advice for free on their own blogs, I started eating right, working out, getting my clothes tailored, and, most importantly, getting laid. But now that you guys have all come together, I’d hate to see that opportunity disappear for the rest of the men out there. Maybe NLU isn’t meant to be a place for newbies, maybe it’s a place for red pill guys to keep getting better at what we’re already practicing. But I’d like to think that if a man not too unlike myself two years ago stumbled across this blog, he’d be able to turn his life around the same way I and many other guys have.
Actually, I think this is a mistake. Not because you guys haven’t earned my $3.50, but because the best posts of any blog need to be free for everyone and anyone to read and digest.
You’re average blue pill beta male that stumbles across this blog is in far greater need of reading the best this website has to offer than anyone with a premium membership. He’s the one who needs the tools to change his life around, with the rest of us you’re just preaching to the choir.
To Jack and Lucky Chrysma and others against the pay wall hybrid.
Please keep in mind that some of the writers here at NLU have families to support, run other full time blogs and and provide other services or run a good business. For them to even write for NLU takes up a piece of their time that they could be spending doing something else.
For us to innovate and try things that are new or valuable would take extra time and energy. If you’ve followed some of the writers here “for years” for free and paying less than a cup of coffee to support them and encourage them to continue working is too much that’s of course is your prerogative.
But the argument that information should stay free for newbies to find isn’t valid, them name of this and what we are about is for The Next Level. For guys who already know about game but need to put it all together and working on complete self improvement. This cheap partial pay wall is a way to differentiate ourselves from other free game blogs and manosphere blogs and set ourselves apart.
At the same time again there will still be FREE POSTS. I don’t know where you got the idea that the content would be any less than it has been, I simply said it may be shorter or fewer as writers focus more energy and attention on paid posts.
Bottom line if we’re pushing for five posts a week right now that’s 20 posts a month on average. At the start 4, 5 of those posts would be paid posts? Still giving you a bargain.
Just to go off what VK said, we’re not going to take a dump on the free stuff.
Paid posts will largely involve above and beyond type original/creative content that takes lots of time and effort to generate. And believe me, we all want the paid posts to be worth it.
95% of manosphere content is free. I’m paying for that extra 5%. Also I have met some of the writers and I want to support their work.
One lunch in dc costs about 10-15$. Are people seriously making the argument that one hamburger is more valuable than a year of posts? Plus the money is going to guys you respect, not some faceless corporation.
Those who object to the paid content should really think about the source of their reluctance. Is it some alleged principle that content should be free? Or is it an actual financial issue? If its the money then you have much bigger problems to worry about.
My bad on the redundant posting, didn’t think my first post went through.
It is my belief that manosphere content needs to be free, particularly on the best blogs like this one, because we have a message that more men need to hear.
But VK, your point is valid. If the purpose of this blog isn’t to freely provide the best self-improvement info out there to as many men as possible then there’s no reason not to go through with the partial pay plan. And I think we can all agree that demanding you guys to slave away delivering quality post after quality post without any reward is a dick move.
In the end this pay structure isn’t a big deal. Guys like me and the other readers who know the quality of your work and the value we’ve gotten from it in the past aren’t going to hesitate to donate you a few meager dollars. It really just comes down to what the purpose of this blog is, and ultimately that’s up to you guys.
I’d be more than down to drop some dough to support all of this. You guys have kept myself and thousands of others informed & entertained for a long time now. It’s about time you start seeing some returns for your work, even if it starts out small.
VK I like you, but thumbs down on this idea. I won’t be nickel and dimed for “premium” five-points blog posts. I hope you understand.
I suggest you build up a solid body of work, then, sell the archives as a book.
See Art of Manliness.
thanks for liking me, but again this about the team.
You won’t be nickel and dimed but your suggestion is build up a body of work in the archive (for free) then sell it as a book, so ask people to pay money to read old material…. I don’t know about that business strategy.
“I like the personalities on here and do get some enjoyment out of it but if you start saving your best stuff for paid access, I will most likely stop coming at all.”
I agree with this. What is worse is clicking on a post in my RSS feed, and then coming and seeing “PAID POST” on it. If you want to have paid posts, marking them clearly in the title, or having a separate RSS feed of free posts would help a lot.
Seriously VK. What happened to the promise that “you will still be able to read my PUA erotica on this site”? I’m not paying 50 cents every time I want to read one of your filthy sex stories
Never promised it will be for free kid. But again nobody is making anyone buy anything. If it’s not worth it to you that’s cool too, it is what it is.
Well I paid my $6.50 and now I’m broke. VK can I crash with you?
On a serious note, the system is not quite working yet. I am shown as logged in but I am unable to see premium content.
@ASF Are you still having issues?
Can you guys look into using bitcoins? Some people value their anonymity, and bitcoins let you do that.
WordPress accepts it. Reddit accepts it. Hell, even Strip lets you use it as a payment method (and directly pays you in $s).
I’d love to support you guys.
ok will do, the weird thing is I have no clue who signs up and the names you use to post comments and also I really don’t care, I mean you support us give us money and we out you, wouldn’t be a smart move on our part. But I understand
I have never been able to get paypal to work for the life of me.
Is there any other way to pay?
I would like to pay for a full year. I’ll pay double if I have to.
Wald
Not at this time but it’s pretty simple, I’m not that good at it myself but I figured out. We are looking into other payment options at this time as well but that will take some time to roll out.
Would it be possible to send you guys a check? I sent one to Tanner earlier, last year.
When do you guys think you’ll roll out the other methods of payment?
Wald
